Getting to Know You – Part One
I started to really get to know myself in 2005 when I began psychotherapy training and it was life changing. It opened my eyes not just to how I was behaving, and why, but also why others reacted to situations in the way they did. My understanding and compassion for others grew.
Many spiritual teachers over the centuries have advocated for self-understanding too. As the 13th Century Persian poet and mystic Rumi said “Remember the entrance door to the sanctuary is inside you.” In other words YOU have the power to create a peaceful life.
I’ve designed this workshop to enable you to dip your toe into the world of self-discovery. It will introduce you to some of the key concepts including:
What is self-awareness?
What it means and the many benefits of understanding yourself.
Conscious & Unconscious Behaviour
Why a huge proportion of our behaviour is unconscious and the implications of this.
What are core beliefs?
These beliefs are often called limiting beliefs and examples include “I’m useless at maths” and “Money doesn’t grow on trees.” You’ll get chance to find out what some of yours are.
The different aspects of you
Have you ever felt yourself reacting to a situation and wondering where it came from? You suddenly get angry or go quiet and withdraw? Or find yourself coming out with something your parents would have said?
You can complete a (confidential) questionnaire to discover your own aspects and why it’s important to know them, and we’ll do a visualisation to meet an aspect of you.
